http://revues-msh.uca.fr/kairos/index.php?id=676 Resumen: La revista ilustrada La Ilustración Española y Americana informaba con regularidad a sus lectores acerca de la evolución de la tercera guerra carlista (1869-1876) mediante sus artículos y, ni que decir tiene, sus ilustraciones. En el presente artículo se contempla verificar la hipótesis siguiente: los dibujos de guerra publicados en la revista española dan a ver, bien es cierto, la evolución del conflicto, a la par que resultan de estrategias mediáticas, e incluso, ideológicas. La revista ilustrada podría pues orientar la interpretación del lector español de la época, mediante las decisiones que tomaba su editor Abelardo de Carlos –punto que se tendrá que dilucidar–, en función quizá de los diferentes regímenes que ostentaron el poder. Tres etapas articulan la reflexión. En primer lugar, se realizará una presentación general del contexto en el que surgió el corpus de dibujos seleccionado. Consideraremos luego distintos factores para explicar los periodos de ausencia de representaciones visuales del conflicto carlista en la revista ilustrada y, por fin, propondremos una interpretación de la evolución semántica de los dibujos de guerra y de los títulos que aparecen en el co-texto. Abstract: The illustrated journal named the Ilustración Española Americana regularly informs its readers of about the situation of the Third Carlist War (1869-1876) through press articles and, of course, illustrations. In this paper, we intend to examine whether the drawings published in the Spanish journal merely depict the evolution of the conflict or whether they are part and parcel of media or ideological strategies. Through the various choices made by Abelardo de Carlos, its publisher, the illustrated journal may have contributed to influence the interpretation of the Spanish readers of the time. Abelardo de Carlos himself may have been influenced by the various regimes which succeeded each other, which is a point we will also develop. We will focus on three different points topics. First of all, we will present the general context of the study of the war drawings we chose to focus on. After that, we will try to explain the reasons for the absence of iconographic representations of the Carlist war in the illustrated journal review. Finally, we will propose an interpretation of the semantic evolution of war drawings and title which appears in the co-text.
