Elle repose sur des principes déontologiques stricts et vise à rétablir le lien social endommagé par l'infraction, en impliquant la victime, l'auteur et parfois la communauté dans le processus de réparation. En se concentrant sur les répercussions humaines et sociales de l'infraction, elle favorise la responsabilisation des auteurs et la guérison des victimes. La justice restaurative soulève des questions juridiques et sociétales, notamment sur les frontières entre sanction pénale et réparation, tout en contribuant à la réduction des tensions sociales. Restorative justice is gradually emerging as a complementary model to the traditional legal system. It is bases on strict ethical principles and aims to re‑establish the social link damaged by the offence, by involving the victim, the perpetrator and sometimes the community in the reparation process. By focusing on the human and social repercussions of the offence, it encourages perpetrators to take responsibility and victims to heal.
