En se penchant sur ce roman, notre recherche se propose d’étudier les éléments qui permettent de rapprocher la destruction du Carlton de l’apocalypse de la société bucarestoise de l’époque. Pour ce faire, nous analyserons, par exemple, des références à la Bible, des personnages individuels et collectifs, les images des dégâts attribués au séisme. Our article is about Cezar Petrescu’s novel entitled Carlton (1944), which is inspired by the collapse of the eponymous building during the 1940 earthquake. In dealing with this novel, our research aims at studying the elements which underlie the connection between the destruction of the Carlton and the apocalypse of the Bucharest society of the time.
